TravelBuzau: Connecting Buzău County to the World
TravelBuzau has a legacy of over 15 years in promoting Buzău County as a tourism destination. Founded as non-profit iniative in 2010 by Juranda and Thorsten Kirschner, it launched as the first tourism portal dedicated to Buzău County. After a period of break, redesign and strategic planning, TravelBuzau is set to relaunch in 2025 under the Slow Food Buzău community.
Our vision is to establish the largest community-driven tourism platform that promotes Buzău County at both national and international levels.
Our History
2010: TravelBuzau began as Asociaţia Monteoru Renaissance, a grassroots initiative to promote the unique offerings of Buzău County.
2014: The organization was renamed Asociaţia TravelBuzau, inspired by its increasingly popular portal, www.travelbuzau.com, which attracted at that time over 20,000 unique monthly visitors and became one of the most visited regional tourism websites in Romania.
Between 2010 and 2018, TravelBuzau made a significant impact in both local and international tourism by:
- Creating promotional materials such as:
- Postcards of Buzău County
- The flyer “Buzău – The Wild Side of the Carpathians” for ROMEXPO
- Contributions to the Romanian Tourism Brochure (FAPT) in Romanian, English, and German
- Presentations of Buzău villages in the guide “The Most Beautiful Villages of Romania”.
- Representing Buzău at major tourism fairs:
- Romanian Tourism Trade Fair – ROMEXPO (Bucharest)
- International Tourism Trade Fair (ITB Berlin, Germany)
- IMEX Frankfurt (Germany)
During this time, TravelBuzau collaborated with the National Tourism Association Federation (FAPT) to showcase the region’s attractions on the Romanian booth at international events.
Media and Event Highlights
With the support of TravelBuzau, Buzău County gained visibility through:
- Media Coverage: Articles published in Adevarul, Jurnalul National, The Guardian, Le Monde, and tourism magazines in Germany and Austria.
- TV Shows and Documentaries: Projects like “Cireașa de pe tort” (Prima TV), “Țara N´Bucate” (Kanal D), “Exclusiv în România” (TVR 1), and Robert Makłowicz’s Culinary Travel (TV Polonia) showcased Buzău’s landscapes, culture, and culinary traditions to wide audiences.
Community Impact and Innovative Events
