Museum of Shapes
✨ Short Description
The Museum of Shapes, opened in 2018 in Bozioru, Buzău County, is an interactive museum dedicated to trovants, mysterious geological formations with unusual shapes. Using Augmented Reality, the museum allows visitors to “communicate” with trovants, exploring the Earth’s evolution over 12 million years. It is part of the “Ținutul Buzăului” Geopark project, promoting the unique geological and cultural heritage of the region.

📜 History of the Location
The Museum of Shapes was inaugurated in 2018 as a project of the “Ținutul Buzăului” Association, in collaboration with local authorities from Bozioru commune. Its purpose is to protect and promote the trovants of Ulmet and the wider Buzău Land. The Augmented Reality technology used in the museum offers visitors an interactive and engaging experience.
⭐ Importance and Uniqueness of the Location
The museum focuses on trovants, also known as “living stones” or “children of the Earth”, famous for their unusual, almost sculptural forms. These formations are thought to symbolize strength and protection, deeply embedded in local folklore. Through Augmented Reality, visitors can take a journey through time, learning about the formation of trovants and the geological evolution of the region.
🐉 Local Myths and Stories
In local mythology, trovants are mystical stones that are believed to have special powers. Legends suggest that they were formed by prehistoric events, such as the receding of the sea and the rising of mountains. Many folk traditions see trovants as protective symbols, carrying ancient wisdom through their shapes and textures.
