The oil mine of Sărata-Monteoru is unique in Europe and one of a kind in the world, due to its method of extracting crude oil through underground galleries. Inaugurated in 1925, the mine was exploited through galleries dug at depths of 240-320 meters. This innovative method is still used today, and the mine is considered a historical monument. It is a remarkable site, both historically and for tourism, representing a unique example of mining engineering in Europe.

Oil Mine – Visitors can explore the mine’s access area. However, public access inside the mine is currently restricted due to safety reasons, as the mine is still active.
