Pietroasa Veche Winery

Established in 1893, Pietroasa Veche Winery operates under the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. Located in the Dealu Mare region, it is renowned for producing high-quality wines from traditional Romanian grape varieties, including Tămâioasă Românească, Grasă de Cotnari, and Busuioacă de Bohotin.

Wine Tasting Experience

Wine enthusiasts can enjoy guided tours and tastings at Pietroasa Veche, which include:

  • Vineyard Walks: Explore the vineyards on Dealul Istriței, where the grapes are cultivated.
  • Winemaking Process: Learn about both traditional and modern winemaking techniques, with facilities updated as recently as 2019.
  • Vinotheque Visit: Descend into the cellar, housing over 80,000 bottles, some dating back to the 1960s, each with a unique story and accolades.
  • Tasting Sessions: Sample a selection of wines in a historic setting, featuring a replica of the famed “Cloșca cu puii de aur” treasure.

    • Saturday and Sunday: Visits and tours available by appointment.
  • Tasting Packages:
    • Standard Package: Includes a winery tour, vinotheque visit, and tasting of four wines from the Research & Innovation range, accompanied by water, pretzels, and apples.
    • Premium Package: Offers a more extensive tasting experience with additional wines and a cheese platter.
