📜 History of the location

Lake Siriu was created with the construction of Siriu Dam, approved in 1972 and completed in 1994. The dam was designed to provide drinking and industrial water supply to downstream settlements, irrigation of over 50,000 hectares of agricultural land and flood protection. In addition, the dam feeds the Nehoiașu hydropower plant with a capacity of 42 MW, generating about 144 GWh annually. The construction of the dam involved changing the DN 10 road, contouring the lake and involving the construction of the Giurca and Stânca Tehărău viaducts, which offer spectacular views.
