Lake Mocearu, located in the commune of Chiliile, at an altitude of 775-800 meters, is a picturesque and wild lake, with an area of about 1 hectare and a depth of 8 meters. Although access is difficult due to unpaved roads, the site offers an authentic experience for nature lovers and hikers.

Lake Mocearu is estimated to be over 150 years old and was formed by the collapse of an underground layer of salt, thus having karst origins. It is linked to the traditions and stories of the locals, who consider it a mysterious place with “underwater holes” that are said to have caused loss of life.

📍 How to get there
- Access: The access road starts from DJ203K, between Lopatari and Plaiul Nucului. The last stretch is an unpaved communal road, recommended for cars with higher ground clearance.
- Alternative access: Berca – Scoartoasa – Chilie – Lacul Moecaru (partially newly asphalted)
- Recommendation: Easier to access in summer in dry weather. The route can become difficult in wet weather.
