The Grigorescu Mansion, built in 1930, is a representative example of the neo-Brâncovenesque architectural style and a jewel of the Buzău region. Over the years, the mansion was a meeting place for the elite and played an important role in the local economy, being involved in the production of wine and cognac. After a period of post-revolutionary neglect and deterioration, the mansion was bought in 2011 and renovated with local materials. Today, the Grigorescu Manor is an agritourism guesthouse. The mansion cannot be visited, but there is a shop showcasing products from the Slow Food Buzău community. On request, Farm-to-Table lunches are organized in the courtyard of the manor.
📜 History of the Location
The mansion was built by the landowner Constantin C. Grigorescu in 1930 in the neo-Brâncovenesque style, and was an important place for the elite of the time, involved in the production of local wine and cognac. During World War II, it served as a hospital and refuge. After the revolution, the manor went into a period of decline, but in 2011 it was bought by Juranda and Thorsten, who began the restoration process, transforming it into a center for Slow Food culinary experiences and an agrotourism guesthouse.
