The Monteoru Culture Archaeological Center in Sărata Monteoru is a site of exceptional archaeological significance, offering insight into Bronze Age civilizations. The Monteoru Culture, dating from 3000 – 1600 BC, is one of the most advanced Bronze Age cultures in the Carpathian-Danube region. Excavations have revealed settlements, necropolises, tools, jewelry, and ritual objects, helping to understand the ethnic, linguistic, and cultural development of the Northern Thracians, as well as later influences from Romanization.

Sărata Monteoru has been inhabited since the Bronze Age and remains a key archaeological site in Romania. Discovered in the second half of the 19th century, it has been systematically researched, leading to the identification of the Monteoru Culture. Archaeologists have uncovered several habitation layers, each corresponding to different phases of the Bronze Age, revealing cult objects, tools, weapons, and jewelry.
